Built in the Wasatch

Wasatch Outdoors started with a simple idea: the best survival kit is the one you're already wearing. So we built fire-starting capability into a thing you put on every morning without thinking about it — your laces.

Survival Laces are made of military-grade 550 paracord. The core holds the standard seven nylon strands, a 1″ ferrocerium rod, and a waterproof tinder strand — all reachable by pulling the metal aglet. Strike the rod, fray the tinder, and you've got a fire from something that never left your boots.

From there the kit grew: the Deluxe and 2.0 laces, a full Survival Kit, a credit-card knife, a whistle-and-ferro buckle, and apparel. Real materials, made to be used rather than displayed.
